11/9/18 Parent Newsletter

Dear Parents,                                                                      November 9, 2018

Happy Weekend!  Just a quick note this week about upcoming events and reminders.  We also wanted to thank all of you for your kindness and support this week as we grapple with the news of our school being repurposed.  We are so very grateful for all our amazing parents and community.  It truly is what makes UID so special.

Field trip permission forms for our trip to the Hydro Plant in Essex Jct. have gone home. Please sign and return to school as soon as possible. We are excited to have this opportunity as part of our science unit on natural resources and energy production.  Dorothy Schnure will be then doing a presentation on renewable energy when we come back to school that morning.  We also have VEEP (Vermont Energy Education Program) coming this week with a number of hands on activities to help us understand how our energy is generated.  They will even bring in a bicycle that when pedalled will light up different watt light bulbs!

It is a busy week ahead with Thanksgiving lunch, Turkey Trot, Book Projects and writing celebration! All of this on November 15th!  Homework for next week will consist of students' character book bag projects, due on Thursday and reading. The students will not have school the following Monday and with the holidays we would like to ensure they have a bit of a break too!  They can always do MobyMax if you would like them to do more.  There will be no homework the week of Thanksgiving.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Tracy and Carolyn
