Dear Parents, March 25, 2019
Our apologies for a late newsletter! It was a very busy week with activities here at school as well as parent/teacher conferences for us after school. We will get back to our regular newsletter schedule this Friday.
Two field trip permission slips went home. And of course they fell during the same week! We needed to be flexible for the trip to Proctor Maple Research Center, since it's all dependent on when the sap flows! The Red Clover activity at JES was originally scheduled for the 12th, but needed to be rescheduled for the 5th. Please sign the forms sometime this week so we have them back by this Friday. If you need another copy of them, please let us know. Thank you!
We are beginning our play practice this week! I have not yet set the date for the performance, but will be looking at a time during the day in June. Things are still being added to the master schedule and I want to make sure we don't have to change it once it's set. The students are excited! The play is coming home today with their parts highlighted. This copy can stay at home. We have other copies at school. Their lines need to be memorized, as well as their actions in the parenthesis. Students decided if they wanted a big part, or a small part and we wrote names down to pull from a hat. This was the fairest way to do it. We don't do auditions in elementary school. I think most everyone is happy with the parts they got. It is a team effort and I know they will all do their best! Don't worry about the songs. We will be practicing those at school.
We have eggs incubating in our classroom! We are all thrilled to have this opportunity once again! We are learning about the structure and function of the egg parts, as well as learning about permaculture and sustainability which fits in so well with everything else we have been learning. Many thanks to Ella Fulton's dad Bill, for making this happen for us! The chicks will arrive in about 2 weeks or so!! We can't wait!!
Our new share theme is: baby stuff (meaning pictures, blankets, memories, etc from when the students were babies). Thank you for your support with this!
It looks like the weather is going to get warmer this week! Perhaps spring is almost really here!!
Lots of pictures below, including many from the Cardboard Challenge at JES! Enjoy!
Have a wonderful week.
