Happy end of March! This time of year just seems to fly by! Hopefully the weather continues to improve too! I think we are all ready for spring.
All permission slips have been received! Thank you for this! We won't have any field trips now until May! And then things get very busy!
We are digging into decimals in math. Students are understanding the difference between tenths and hundredths. We have also looked at equivalent fractions and decimals. We will be wrapping up this unit in April. It is one of the biggest conceptual units of 4th grade next to multiplication and division. We will be revisiting those topic and expanding on them after fractions.
Students have finished up persuasive and opinion writing. Again, we are so impressed with the topics they chose and found evidence for. Our next unit is informational writing. Students will be picking topics of their choice to research and write a non-fiction book about. I know how much they enjoyed the non-fiction unit they did in 3rd grade and are already excited about learning some new things.
Our play practices have started. Continue to help your child learn their lines at home. In a few weeks we will be sending home a list of things we will need for the play: costumes, props, scenery etc. Any help or donations will be greatly appreciated!! We love the play and can't wait to perform it for you!
The book project is due April 8th. We may skip the next one, and wait until May to do the last book project which is reading a biography and doing a wax museum. With so much going on, this makes the most sense!
The new share theme is "lucky charms". No, not the cereal, but actual things the kids have as lucky charms. If they don't have anything for that. they can do a free share on their day.
I am sending a link this week for Earth Hour. You can check it out below. In the spirit of conservation of energy that we learned about, I think it would be awesome if families could participate!!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
