Dear Parents, April 5, 2019
Happy April! This time of year seems to fly by! Perhaps because there is so much happening in terms of events. And more to come as we wind down the school year!
Just a couple of things this week. We will be blocking out the play scenes over the next couple of weeks as well as thinking about costumes and scenery. Be on the look out for a list from us of things we will be looking to borrow! We have still not set the date yet, but it will be in June! Please continue to help your child learn their lines at home. We are focusing on enunciation. expression. slowing down and phrasing. We are also beginning to work on volume! It is such a fun play and we are all looking forward to performing it!
Book projects are due on Monday. The final book project will go home after the April break and the students will do the Wax Museum as part of their project. Again this will be in June.
We enjoyed two field trips this week! See all the pictures below. We also finished up our opinion and persuasive writing unit. Copies of their final persuasive piece and their on-demand essay will come home on Monday. Be aware that most of the students wrote to convince their parents of something!!
Our new writing unit: Informational Writing will start on Monday! Students will learn to research, take notes, summarize and put together a book about a topic of their choice. They will then include many of the text features we learned about such as diagrams, charts, table of contents, glossary, etc.
Sylvia's solo week begins on April 15th. We have lots of great things planned with our units that she will teach! She has done an amazing job so far and I know it will be a wonderful experience for her and the students!
Chicks are due to hatch on Monday!! We will update you on how they are doing and of course, have lots of pictures to share!
Enjoy the weekend and all the photos below!
