Parent Newsletter 9/13/19

Dear Parents,                                                              September 13, 2019

Happy Friday!  It has been a good week here in 4th grade. Our first full week of school!  We have worked hard and accomplished many things!

We have began our mini math unit around patterns in numbers. Students wrote their names multiple times and then looked for patterns such as how many times they wrote their name, how many times a certain letter appeared and could they predict how many letters if they wrote their name 100 or 200 times.  In science. we have continued to practice observation skills.  We focused on sight by looking for different colors in nature and also did a listening walk.  In reading. we continue to practice what quiet reading looks like and sounds like.  We decorated our writing notebooks and are getting ready to start writing next week.  We did write a book together based on Dr. Seuss' My Many Colored Days, which we also illustrated. We have been busy for sure!  We continue to focus on routines, rules, and teamwork.  We learned about growth mindsets, and how they can help us learn and grow our brains.  We also thought about our hopes and dreams for the year.  We look forward to sharing all this at open house in October.

Just a reminder if you haven't sent in the field trip permission form and money, please do so next week.  Thank you!   Picture day is next Friday, the 20th.

Thanks to all the parents who have sent in snacks for our hungry students! It really makes a difference in our ability to learn and focus!

That's all for this week. As always please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. Enjoy the pictures below and have a great weekend!
